My 3 Valentines Day words

Happy 'day of the loved'

its not really a day for loved up couples...its just a day for everyone to realize that they are loved by something or someone, and that is why it is special day.  For example...today i had a great love for the lady who served me a strong coffee :: giggle!   All that romantic stuff is better when its randomly applied anyways!

So a friend and i were talking a while back about those '3' words! Those words that seem to be plastered over every surface at the moment....well they're nice + thoughtful + sweet, but we came to the conclusion that sometimes you just need to hear something else :: words that turn your bad day into something fantabulous,  make you feel like a rockstar, the cat's pyjama's + no matter how crazy you feel/are....the person who says these words.. can see otherwise

so what are they......

Sometimes i focus more on the day to day chores, whats for supper + kidlet business that i  forget to say that to peeps i care about...so ::

+ hey Mr...(who is currently far away)......YOU ARE AWESOME!!

+ to my sicky kids, no sleep, going to school, working full-time besties......YOU ARE AWESOME!!

+ to you peeps out there ......  quick reminder....YOU ARE AWESOME!

Yikes, getting sick was not in my impeccable Businessing Plan!! Sorry folks!!

We've had a pretty busy couple of months ~ family coming + going, 3 new little cousins have been born, the 1st birthday of our lil one, all whilst gearing up for the Businessing comeback + a couple of Christmas craft shows. And thats when it happened...some crazy kinda cooties took over my head!!!

 

 Yes'm i thought it was just a flu that would pass but ended up having to have a root canal on an ol root canal + am on some crazy anti-biotics to try + get rid of whatever is living in my noggin! Now the thing i've learned is.....you can really still function if you have a sore body part, but when its your head....well you really do need your brain:: giggle!!

Anyways this month has been a bit of a sha-mozzle, so i'm thinking perhaps i need another October!  At the moment i'm busy sewing up everything i need for the Fabulous Finds show i'm doing this weekend, so i'm hoping life will return a lil back to normal next week + we can get back on track....~ but then we have the Sparky Jones Granding Opening next week!! YiPpy + is it that time already!!!

Awfully Quiet.

 

Well its been a week or so since my folks left + the house is not bursting at the seams anymore with chatter, life + adoring attention.....its awfully quiet! The flowers that they gave us tho ~ are a delightful reminder that they were once here!

Motherly Advice.

Washing, washing, washing. How little people can create so much washing...i don't understand! Anyways a friend of mine had told me years ago, about how a Sunlight Soap bar is the best thing around, it can remove most stains that all those fancy stain removers can't ~ i think its called retro style :: giggle. So a bar of soap + eco lemon blossom baby wash are my tools of choice for my babe + prewashing all my fabrics used for Sparky Jones.

Now onto a little slice of funny:: after Bea was born, my Muma shared with me some motherly advice which i will pass onto you. She took me into the laundry, and informed me that being a Mum involves a lot of washing, and to never let it pile up too much, as it will be the death of me (a lil dramatic, but enough to scare me!) So even when i'm dog tired, i think of this funny lil story, whilst i load the machine::

 

The mood was dull, everyone was mulling around, quietly nattering whilst sipping their cups of tea  + nibbling on finger sandwiches.  Bernice spotted Mildred + Ethel, both wearing their Sunday bests, although one always does wear their finest to a funeral.  Bernice leaned in toward Mildred 'Well what an awful way to go....is it true what people are saying?' Bernice was known around town as the local gossip.  Mildred + Ethel moved in closer, Ethel whispered ' well apparently she was there for a week before anyone found her' all of them gasped.  You see Jemima had died an awful death, she became trapped under 5 loads of washing, no one could hear her, they just assumed she had gone to the shops.  They only found her, as one tiny hand managed to break through the pile, at a last attempt for life + freedom.

The classic Shirtdress

First installment into the new Wardrobe :: The all-time classic Shirtdress.

This lil grey + red pinstriped beauty is made from a beautiful quality thick cotton.  Dolled up by a quick iron, my red Sandgrens + red pearls (thats what they are to me::giggle) ~ this recently thrifted number is the perfect fit in more ways than one.

Now the other reason I am in need of a new Wardrobe, is I need a bit of a style make-over, a new look for a new chapter. Unfortunately, pregnancy introduced me to the elastic waisted jeans....+ I have only given them up recently(so comfy ~ i'm glad I didn't know about these years ago!). In addition, this new mama body of mine is... a touch different than the old me ~ there are some lumps + bumps where they never used to be and a lil extra cuddly stuff all over. So I just have to adapt, and start with some clothing items that make me feel comfortable in my skin.

As i'm in the mood for sprucing things up ~ thought I should get a new + improved do too. I had contemplated chopping it all off, as there is a lil monkey in my life that likes to hang off my hair (i'm pretty sure I have a couple of bald spots from my locks being wrenched out!)...but I like having long hair too much. And we are also heading into summer, so its good to have some options of wearing it up or down :: so I got some new 'totally loving them' heavy bangs!  Such an easy cut to care for too, twist + go, and sometimes a lil zip zip on the front with the straightener.

 

I got the giggles the other day at how much haircuts can be compared with your own life (shallow but true)::

+ Your hair changes over time(especially with pregnancy + mummyhood hormones) - adapt + move on, quit trying to do the same things as in your 20's

+ Same haircut all your life (kinda like me) - you need to take a risk! who cares if you mess up, wear a hat + try something else next time

+ bad haircut - okay you made a huge mistake, but your hair + you will grow.

+ good haircut - are like a best friend, they always make you look + feel good.

+ highlights/perm - are like ex boyfriends...seemed like a good idea at the time, and they take forever to go away.

 

So I'm hoping to take a few more risks in the future ;)

Wardrobe Malfunction

Its funny how when something weighs on your mind, the answer will come in the most basic of ways. Like your wardrobe collapsing under the weight of consumerism!!
I definitely got  a bee in my bonnet after the Bangladesh sweatshop crisis ~ I couldn't stop thinking about it, all those people lost their lives, just so I could wear my $8 tshirt for one season + then throw it away.  After much thought, I realized that every person on the planet should be entitled to work to feed there family... just like me, I'm just against inhumane + unethical working conditions, i'm against fast fashion (awesome interview + book on the topic) and i'm against quantity over quality.
Now back that my wardrobe of mine, there was so much in there that I simply didn't wear ~ I always stick to my favourites, I always keeps those clothes that maybe don't fit right but will one day for some strange reason? and I always keep clothes that have some sort of emotional attachment (like so + so gave it to me or this happened when I was wearing that) But when you get a wardrobe malfunction such as this ~ it means it time!!.
I'm bagging up all those clothes that might become someone elses favourites, and what am I going to put in there???  Only a few items that I really + truely love, that have been made with heart, hands + coffee breaks....and a couple of preloved goodies too!!

ps:: That is the first Busy Jones I made ever made!! She makes me very happy + proud.
